About Me

Entrepreneur | M.D. | Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at meds.com and BlueChew.com

Alex Jovanovich is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of BlueChew.com, a men’s health company where he enjoys developing new products, building teams, marketing, and scaling the brand.

A keen interest in problem-solving and a willingness to question the status quo led Dr.

Jovanovich went down the path of entrepreneurship at an early age. He met BlueChew co-founder Stephen Sullivan in his first year of high school, and the two became best friends and lifelong business partners. They experimented with diverse business ideas throughout high school and college, from a stain-removing pen they dubbed SpotNot—before Tide Stick arrived on the market—to a large-format alcoholic beverage called Hurly Burly and the apparel company Rippit.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Finance, he continued his education at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences, from which he graduated in 2010 as a Medical Doctor. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Chicago, where he served as chief resident. During his residency, he volunteered in Haiti, providing medical relief to people still suffering from the devastating 2010 earthquake near Port-au-Prince.

He went on to work in urgent care and concierge medicine, where in-clinic experience opened his eyes to the gaping inefficiencies of the medical system. Patients needing essential treatments or medication refills waited hours for overworked doctors to attend to them. Insurance—which neither patients nor doctors liked—exacerbated the already sluggish system, limiting access to care and keeping costs high. In light of these observations, Dr. Jovanovich pursued an interest in telemedicine, which he recognized could give patients instant access to healthcare and customized treatments at a much lower price.

In 2015, Dr. Jovanovich and Mr. Sullivan co-founded Dermacare, a company that provided customized, low-cost telehealth diagnoses and treatments for various skincare conditions.  Encouraged by positive patient feedback and high demand for Dermacare’s services, he became convinced that telemedicine was the future of healthcare. Soon after, with Sildenafil and Tadalafil coming off patent, he decided to bring what he’d learned to the men’s health space. In 2017, he and Mr. Sullivan co-founded BlueChew, a company whose mission is to help men have better sex and healthier lives. A breakout success, BlueChew has served more than 2 million men to date.

A lifelong advocate of creative solutions to unique problems, he has enjoyed the daily challenges of taking BlueChew from a two-person operation to a company with over 250 employees and offices nationwide. His dedication to his customers and employees drives his ambition to develop new products, improve processes, and motivate those around him. Alex Jovanovich has learned that to achieve great success, you must have a great team, tremendous focus, and the ability to fail repeatedly without losing enthusiasm.
